Top 6 Scary Movies of All Time

Since it is Halloween and all I thought I might share with you my picks on the top six scarcest movies ever made.

6. Evil Dead - Is basically about, “five friends that go up to a cabin in the woods where they find unspeakable evil lurking in the forest. They find the Necronomicon and the taped translation of the text. Once the tape is played, the evil is released. One by one, the teens become deadly zombies. With only one remaining, it is up to him to survive the night and battle the evil dead.” taken from imdb.com. A great low budget film, that took the zombie element to another level.

5. Friday the 13th - Who doesn’t know the story of a boy named Jason Voorhees that drowned at Camp Crystal Lake. After the drowning, a few killings the camp was closed, and later reopened which sparks a series of gruesome murders. One of the better slasher films ever made.

4. A Nightmare on Elm Street - Is basically about Freddy Krueger a man that harmed little kids was killed violently, being thrown into a fire oven reappears in a group of teenagers dreams. Nancy the main character begins having nightmares about Freddy Krueger, scarred and disfigured wearing a glove with knives attached. As her friends begin to die, Nancy realizes that she obviously must stay awake to survive. Discovering the secret identity of the nightmare killer and his relationship with the children of Elm Street, the girl lures him out into the real world.

3. Halloween - Michael Myers has been institutionalized for 15 years for the brutal murder of his old sister. After escaping from the institute he then returns to the one community that he dearly remembers terrorizing the community with some horrific murders.

Friday the 13th

2. The Exorcist - Based on the 1971 novel by William Peter Blatty of a real possession that happened in a Washington suburb puts Regan, a teenage girl, living with her mother into complicated situations. She displays strange warning signs, including levitation and abnormal physical feats. When all medical possibilities are ruled out, Regan’s mother is sent to a priest. He becomes convinced that Regan is possessed and his collogue, a priest, knowledgeable in exorcisms try to drive the spirit from Regan before she dies. Any movie that had ambulances outside of the theaters when it debuted deserves to be in the top two films.

1. Night of the Living Dead - My favorite horror film of all time made in 1968 this black and white classic set the stage for the modern day zombies that we see on the big screens. Basically it is about a group of people barricading themselves inside a farm house in an attempt to survive the night after being chased by zombies. The zombies were that of the dead corpses that came back to life in search of human flesh after radiation from a fallen satellite began falling from the sky.
